I found this recipe as a result of a Facebook page a few years ago. I believe the name was Tasty or something like that. What I can tell you is that this is a truly delicious and easy recipe to make. The beef is so tender and juicy, and the tang from the peppers adds to the flavor in a way I cannot describe. You just have to try this. You will not be disappointed. Now, I did tweak a few things, so this is my version of the recipe. Give it a shot. I think you’ll like it.
Note: All slow cookers are different. Some take longer/ shorter cooking times than others.
This recipe will yield about eight sandwiches, depending on the length of the rolls.
Ingredients: One 3-4 lb. chuck roast
2 Envelopes of Italian Dressing seasoning
16 oz. Jar of banana peppers
8 Sandwich rolls (Hoagie Rolls or Brat Buns are preferred)
16 Slices of Provolone Cheese
1 Pkg of fresh Mozzarella Cheese
Extra banana peppers for serving
3-4 Large cloves of garlic, minced
Directions: 1. Place chuck roast, Italian Dressing mix, minced garlic, and banana peppers with juice into the slow cooker.
2. Cover and cook on low for 8 hours or on high for 4 hours.
3. About 20 minutes before the meat is finished, heat the oven to between 250 and 300 degrees. Slice rolls lengthwise and toast in the oven.
4. Remove meat from slow cooker and shred with two forks. Place two slices of Provolone cheese in rolls, and spoon shredded beef on top of the cheese.
5. Top with fresh or shredded mozzarella cheese and additional banana peppers.
6. Enjoy.
